I am currently regretting my choice of clarinet solo for solo and ensemble. I have to play it the Saturday after next, meaning that I have less than 2 weeks, and it still sucks. I haven’t even been able to practice with my accompanist yet because I can’t play it well enough to play with an accompanist.
Stress and frustration. That is all.
+Short band rant.
For some reason, a lot of people seem to believe that only brass players get sore after playing for a long time. As a clarinet, I can 100% guarantee that that is not true. I am dead right now. It’s starting to get worse every practice. Which, you know, isn’t good. I can also say that I am not the only woodwind player that this is happening to at the moment. Welcome to the joy of marching season.
But anyway, I can’t recall if I actually have any followers who are in band, but if I do, anyone have any recommendations of things that I can do to help? Warm ups, cool downs, quick remedies, anything? Playing less is sadly not an option, but this is getting slightly ridiculous. The only things I can find online are for brass (go figure).
